Integrative mental health is a holistic approach that uses both traditional and complementary therapies in the treatment of mental health disorders. Personalized treatments are developed to suit each person’s lifestyle and strengthen self-awareness and resources for self-care. The focus is on addressing the effects of one’s lifestyle on their emotional functioning which includes the effects of stress, relationships, exercise, sleep hygiene, and dietary habits. By working with the whole person, balance can be achieved in body, mind, and spirit.
Traditional counseling and/or psychiatry for many people has been beneficial but has not quite been enough. Oftentimes people find that something is still missing because they haven’t gotten the results they desire. Often times this missing link lies in their lifestyle. I provide a unique approach by incorporating nutrition education and a holistic philosophy in my practice through the exploration of diet and its effect on emotional functioning. I educate my clients on healthy nutrition and lifestyle changes, how to incorporate nutrient-dense foods that are scientifically proven to have a positive impact on mental health, as well as discovering which foods may be contributing to the lack of balance. Making changes in our lifestyle is not easy. But with the help of a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional, I can help you find this balance.
